AIG Scholarships 2024/2025: Master of Public Policy at Oxford

The AIG–Imoukhuede Foundation Scholarships were established in 2017 to offer an exceptional opportunity to outstanding West Africans aspiring to a career in public service. This scholarship program enables them to pursue a Master of Public Policy at the renowned Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Over the years, twenty-nine scholarships, each valued at over £50,000, have been awarded to promising future leaders committed to serving the public sector.

AIG Scholars spend a year at one of the world’s premier universities, benefiting from the expertise of distinguished academic faculty and experienced practitioners. Interacting with fellow future public sector leaders from across the globe, scholars receive a transformative educational experience. Upon completing their studies, these scholars return to their home countries, utilizing their newfound knowledge to fortify policymaking, drive reforms, and contribute to their nation’s progress.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Current employment in the Nigerian public sector (Federal or State Ministries, Departments, Agencies & Parastatals)
  • Age between 25 and 45 years
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of combined work experience in private and public sectors
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of a second-class upper qualification

Programme Details

Financial Support

  • Funding covers tuition, living expenses, and a stipend for a summer project.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Scholars benefit from extensive coaching and mentoring, facilitating their Oxford experience and optimizing its advantages.

Career Development

  • AIG Scholars receive comprehensive support in charting their career trajectories, accessing opportunities aligned with their interests, and leveraging the knowledge acquired at Oxford.

Work Experience

AIG Scholars undertake summer placements to deepen their understanding and proficiency in their chosen fields. This experience augments their expertise and expands their global networks.

  • 31 July 2023: Admissions open for the 2024 intake
  • 15 September 2023: Application deadline for AIG Scholarships
  • 23 September 2023: Invitation for Computer-Based Tests
  • 5 – 12 October 2023: Essay Submissions
  • 25 – 30 October 2023: Video Interviews
  • December 2023: Final Selections
  • 5 January 2024: Deadline for MPP Applications
  • May 2024: Pre-departure Orientation
